"Rise of the Guardians", Pitch Lair

        It was a great experience for me to work on this amazing project. I had the opportunity to learn a lot working with very talented people, and sharing the office with Johane Matte (Annie award nominee this year for her work on the film.....she is AWESOME). 

 After this long production process it is very nice to see a little of your stuff on the big screen. Here a few beat panels I did for a sequence, trying to look for visually cool ideas for shots.

I really love to work in "dark" sequences, so Pitch was a golden opportunity for me.

          A sido una experiencia increible haber trabajado en este proyecto tan guapante. He tenido la oportunidad de aprender muchisimo trabajando con profesionales de la ostia, y compartiendo oficina con Johane Matte ( nominada al annie award este año por su trabajo en la pelicula;...es una maquina). 

Despues de una produccion tan larga es la mar de agradable ver un poquito de ti en la pantalla grande. Aqui dejo algunos beat panels que hice para una secuencia, intentando buscar ideas visuales y planos interesantes.

Me encanta trabajar es escenas "oscuras", asi que Pitch ( "Sombra" en la version castellana) era como un caramelito para mi.

The Guardians are coming.....

Finally "The Rise of the Guardians",the movie I worked on last year, is gonna be at the theatres. I'm so proud to have had the opportunity to be a small part of such an amazing project. Coming this November 21 , don't miss it!!

Finalmente "Rise of the Guardians" ( "El Origen de los Guardianes"), la peli donde curre el año pasado va ha estrenase en los cines. Estoy muy contento de haber tenido la oportunidad de ser una pequeña parte de este proyecto. Al cine a finales de Noviembre todos!! ...nada de bajarosla mamones, que nos conocemos!

Tango

Es elegante, es sensual, es clasico y suena realmente bien; me gusta el Tango.
Abajo dejo el enlace de una de mis canciones de tango favoritas, "Por una cabeza" con la musica del legendario Carlos Gardel y la letra de Alfredo Le Pera. Os sonara de peliculas como "Esencia de mujer" (ese Tango que se baila Al Pacino con una preciosa chica) o "La lista de Schindler" (durante magistral secuencia de presentacion de Oskar Schindler).

Its elegant, is sensual, is classic, and sounds really good; I like Tango.

Vi a esta chica sentada en la ventana disfrutando de una cerveza ayer por la tarde cuando iba andando de camino al Art walk en Donwtown L.A...

The shit inside me

I got the idea for this drawing the other day; sitting in my toilet for several time with a bad diarrhea.

Se me ocurrio este dibujo el otro dia, sentado en el water, con una mala diarrea....ale.

"The Edison" green faire

The "Edison" is my favorite club in  downtown L.A; is located in the sub-basement of the historic Higgins Building, and one hundred years ago used to be a power plant, so now is full of those beautiful machines from the Tesla era. Classic music, burlesque and of course the Absinthe girls, pretty girls pulling a small car with beautiful small bottles of different kind of absinthe....like a heaven for me. Here is one of those "green fairies".

El "Edison", es mi club favorito de Los Angeles, esta situado en un gran sotano del historio edificio Higgins, en el mitico downtown; y hace unos cien anos solia ser una de las plantas electricas de la ciudad, asi que ahora esta lleno de acojonates maquinas en plan Tesla y demas. Musica muy clasica, espectaculo burlesque, y lo mejopr de todo, chicas con carritos de absenta que se van paseando por el local despertando los apetitos de los clientes.....un paraiso. Aqui dejo una de estas "hadas verdes".

Finally VACATIONS !!!!!

Vacaciones por fin!!!! Para Spain que me voy a cargarme las pilas, que bien falta me hace; y asi poder volver otra vez con ganas de dar lo mejor de mi en Hollywood... Nos vemos por Iberia gente!!!!


Finally Vacations!! I'll go to spain and relax enjoying all those things that I miss from there; I also will try to fill back the energies I need to come back to Hollywood and keept working hard. Fiesta!!!! Guacamole!!!

Film Noir

Me flipa este genero; tanto las pelis como los carteles de las mismas. Que tiempos aquellos, en los que los personajes de nuestras peliculas se pasaban las horas fumando, bebiendo whisky a palo seco, apostando en clubs nocturnos, o soltando algun sopapo que otro a Rita Hepburn o cualquiera de las grandes bellezas de esa epoca dorada para tranquilizarlas. Hollywood, metete la saga "Twilight" por el culo, y devuelvenos tu epoca dorada...
Aqui dejo una ilustracion inspirada en este genero; y abajo algunos bocetillos previos.

I really love this genre; the movies but also the wonderful covers and posters. What a great age, where our characters were smoking all the time , drinking whisky, gambling in illegal night clubs, or slapping beauties as Rita Hepburn in the face, for example, to try to calm her down. 
Here I posted this ilustration inspired in this genre; and some early scketches.

Two years in America.....

Joder, como pasa el tiempo.... hace ya dos anos que me vine a California a trabajar como Story artist en Dreamworks. Miro hacia atras y la verdad es que aunque ha sido duro al principio, ahora estoy la mar de agusto adaptado ya practicamente a este nuevo mundo y a sus costumbres. Aunque aun me sigue sin gustar cosas como la crema de cacahuete o el beisbol...pero bueno, tampoco me molaba la sobrasada o el futbol alli donde el Rajoy.

Time goes so fast.... I came two years ago to America to work as story artist at Dreamworks, and now I look back and even if it was hard at the beginning, now I'm almost adapted to this new world and its culture; even if I still don't like the peanut butter or the baseball....

Music !!

Siempre me ha molado mucho la musica, desde chiquitillo; pero una cosa es disfrutarla y otra saber tocarla. Empece probando con la guitarra que dicen es facil,...y despues de varios meses intentandolo solo conseguia tocar "el patio de mi casa" y algun acorde de Nivana. Mas tarde mis amigos me regalaron un Casio, pense que al ser como un mando de play pero con mogollon de botones no tendria dificultad en pillarle el truco,..una mierda. Luego me pille una ocarina, con la excusa de mi fanatismo con el Zelda;...pero tampoco, demasiado agujericos. Ahora estoy con el triangulo, y esta vez si creo que he dado con mi instrumento; aun me cuesta no creas, pero bueno algo suena, seria mas facil si tuviera un vertice menos y fuera mas en plan un palo.
Asi que como musico frustrado aqui dejo deste dibujillo, basado en my hermana; y como disfruta cuando toca la guitarra...me mata de envidia.

Alpha

I always have enjoyed music, since I was a child, but one thing is to enjoy it and other thing is to play it. I started experimenting with the guitar because people says is easy ... and after several months trying it I only succeeded in playing a few Nirvana notes . Later my friends gave me an electronic piano, a Casio, I thought it would be like play a Ps3 controller but with much more buttons. .. its not. Then I started to try with an ocarina, ... no way, to many holes. Now I am with the triangle, and this time I think I've finally found my instrument, but I still belive that it would be easier if it have a vertex less, more like an stick; three vertex is too hard.

So as a frustrated musician I have done this drawing based on my sister and how she enjoys when she plays the guitar ... I have envy of her.

Grunge

Fast drawing I did meanwhile all Spain is focus in the european soccer cup ,... Ill never understand that fanaticism, I only can see eleven millionaires  making more money when our country is sinking in the shit...whatever  ... this drawing was just for fun; trying new things.

The girl with the ginger hair

I had a hard time trying to decide which version to post...the first one have a more dinamic composition with the light projection,...but in the other hand, the second one is more simple and makes you see directly her awesome eyes....so, because is free, here are the two versions.

He pasado un rato tratando de decidir cual colgar. El primero tiene un a composicion  con la luz mas dinamica,...pero el segundo al ser mas sencillo hace que te dijes directamente en esos ojazos. asi que como es gratis, pues cuelgo los dos. Ale!!

California Hot Springs

California es un pequeno tesoro natural; estoy disfrutando de la ostia el escaparme de Los Angeles los fines de semana para poder descubrirlo. De lo que mas me mola son unos "hot Springs" o aguas termales que hay una zona montanosa en el desierto de Mojave. Un gran descubrimiento.
Este dibujo es una interpretacion artistica del lugar, donde al autor se ha tomado la libertad de anadir un poco de ficcion;...la version de abajo esta mas proxima a como el lugar era de verdad...

California is a little natural treasure; I am really enjoying a lot scape from L.A at the weekends and go explore the state. One of the places that I like it more is a hot springs on the Mojave desert, close to San Bernardino mountains. Amazing place
This drawing is an artistic interpretation of the place, where the author has add a "little" of fiction;...the version at the botton of the post is probably closer to the reality.

Creepy

Un dibujo para un colega. Pues no todo van a ser senoritas sensuales...., de hecho cuando era pequeno siempre dibujaba monstruos, mutilaciones, fantasmas y esas cosas; pero llego la pubertad y con ella ganas de acariciar lineas bonitas.

A draiwng for a friend. Because I'm not all the time drawing just sensual ladys...., in  fact when I was a child I always was drawing monsters, mutilations, ghosts, and that kind old stuff; but when the puberty came I started to prefer to draw beautiful lines.

Jungle

"2001 A Space Odyssey" tribute

El otro dia tuve la oportunidad de ver un cine de Hollywood, 2001 Space Odyssey. Siempre me ha molado esta peli (menos los ultimos 20 minutos), ...es increible como Kubrick a mediados de los 60 dio pistas de lo que seria el Skype, la inteligencia artificial,los Podcasts, los Ipads, o la conquista del espacio, sin ir mas lejos. Siempre me llamo la atencion que pese a lo increiblemente documentado que estaba todo, los planos de la tierra desde el espacio, eran confusos, la tierra se veia "rara"; mas tarde descubri que la pelicula se hizo tan solo un ano antes de la primera imagen de la tierra desde el espacio,...ni eso podian saber aun, increible.
En fin, la cosa es que desde pequeno siempre que he visto esta peli, he fantaseado con las azafatas de la nave orbital y las posibilidades de la "gravedad cero"..., asi que le he dado la satisfacion al nino que hay en mi de plasmar esta fantasia y homenajear Kubrick al mismo tiempo....Va por ti Stanley!!!


The other day I have the oportunity to see "2001 A Space Odyssey" on a big screen. Its a wonderful movie to enjoy in a theatre. I always has been amazed how many futuristic ideas Kubrick show us on his movie...Skype, AI, Ipads, Podcast,etc...but even with that i always has been confused when on the shot where we can see the image of the earth, it looks so "strange"; years later someone told me that the movie was relased one year before the Nasa took the first picture of the earth from the space....amazing. Whatever,... since I was a kid I always wanted to draw the space ship hostess with a failure with the artificial gravity machine...

"Sunset Limited"

Desde que me mude a Usa, apenas he cogido trenes o autobuses para darme una aventurilla, como solia hacer en Europa, y es que en este pais todo el mundo conduce o coge el avion; asi que pillar un tren para las largas distancias se puede convertir en una manera romantica y aventurera de viajar...o una forma idiota de perder tiempo y dinero;...segun como lo mires.
Yo le tengo morrina al traqueteo del tren, a dibujar a la gente que se me siente cerca y a intentar orinar dentro del bater cuando el tren esta en movimiento; asi que aprovechando el proximo dia festivo americano me hare una mini escapada a Nueva Orleans, y lo hare en tren desde Los Angeles. Es la linea de tren mas antigua del pais, y tardare 46 horas en llegar a mi destino....pero el paisaje natural promete ser increible; cruzando California, Nuevo Mexico, Texas y Louisiana. Me llevare la libreta y hare algunos dibujos...ya que estoy seguro que acabare hasta los cojones de mi ocurrencia tras unas cuantas horas y me tendre que entretener con algo. Aqui dejo este dibujillo que me rondaba por la cabeza mientras planeaba mi viaje .

I really miss the "adventure trips". When I was living in Europe I used to enjoy a loy taking trains, buses, boats, go across different countries,... but not anymore. I love L.A, but I really wanna see natural beauty of America so I decided to travel from L.A to New Orleans by train, in the really old train line called "Sunset Limited". Its gonna be two days enjoying the amazing landscapes of this country from my window, from the dry west to the warn and wet east. I'm very exited

Blog War!!!!

Mis amigos del blog "Kamehouse Comics", acaban de anunciar una nueva blogwar; esta vez se trata de dibujar el juguete que marco tu infancia, y se ha bautizado como "Toy War". Despues de darle varias vueltas y sabiendo que seguro no seria el unico, no seria fiel a mi infancia si no eligiera a estas cuatro tortugas para retratar. Eran de plastico duro, costaban entre ocho cientas y mil pesetas; y salvo por la forma de la mueca de la cara y el color de la banda, eran practicamente iguales,.... pero que buenos ratos me echaba. Cintiq at home...finally :)

I just bought a Citinq for my home, so I hope ill be posting more often now that i have not excuse.... This is the first one...



Por fin me he pillado una cintiq para dibujar en casa....ya se que suena a pijo, pero despues de acostumbrarme a la cintiq en la oficina se me hace imposible usar la tableta wacom,...y lapiz y papel ni te cuento. Si,... soy basura.

En fin, aqui cuelgo el primero que he hecho para probarla; espero que con lo que me ha costado por lo menos me fuerce a postear mas amenudo....
